Kincorth Academy
 
Kincorth Academy is a fully comprehensive, non-denominational, secondary school located to the south of Aberdeen serving the Kincorth, Altens and Cove areas. Our five associated primary schools are Abbotswell, Charleston, Craighill, Loriston and Kirkhill. 



Gymnasia 71

There are 73 secondary schools in Gomel.  My school is called Gymnasia 71. There are about 700 students in it aged from 6 to 17. My school has got two buildings – one is for junior students, the other – for the senior ones. It stands in a large yard with a lot of flower-beds. Kids learn to take care of them. The students of my school learn 14 subjects including intensive English classes and Maths. We take part in different contests for English learners. Two regional contests are held at our school. One of them is “The Art of Speaking” in four foreign languages taught in Gomel region. The other one is “Welcome to the English-Speaking World!” which is a team contest dealing with one particular English-speaking country each year.

Teachers from Gomel to visit Kincorth Academy

Pupils and staff at Kincorth Academy are preparing to give two visitors from Gomel in Belarus a truly Scottish welcome next week. Two teachers from School 71 in Gomel are to visit the school as part of ongoing work to develop links between Aberdeen and its twin town. Last October, two teachers from Kincorth travelled to Gomel to visit School 71, to compare notes on teaching practice, the curriculum and general school life. Biology teacher Corinne Digges and Design and Technology teacher Alan Tullock brought back letters from around 200 pupils and many pen-pal friendships are still going strong. It is hoped the exchange will also encourage future pupil exchange trips and cross-curricular projects, as well as the setting up of a joint website . School 71 specialises in the teaching of English and both staff and pupils are particularly interested in British - and especially Scottish - history. Stereotypes: the truth or myth

Joint Gomel-Aberdeen Project    Teachers and students of Kincorth Academy from Aberdeen during our visit to Scotland in 2013 introduced their project about Belarussian traditions and customs. They represented a poster to show some stereotypes about Belarusian people. The aim was to find out if some stereotypes were true or false. Teachers and students of our Gymnasia decided to make a responsive action: to continue the project, showing stereotypes we have about Scotland and its people. Kincorth Academy - School 71 Partnership

Kincorth Academy has been in partnership with School 71 in Gomel for many years. This year, we  are continuing this partnership and pupils from Gomel are coming over to Aberdeen to spend a week with Kincorth Academy pupils. The pupils from Gomel arrived in Aberdeen on Sunday 6th October where they began their stay with various pupils from around the school who acted as hosts. In doing  this, it allows them to fully experience the lifestyle and culture in Scotland which is considerably  different than their own country. It’s a great experience for everyone involved.
